{"id":2655,"date":"2018-05-13T18:20:48","date_gmt":"2018-05-13T22:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ccsmfa.blog\/?p=2655"},"modified":"2021-01-18T18:59:41","modified_gmt":"2021-01-18T23:59:41","slug":"installation-at-ccs-remaking-colloquy-progress-update-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pangaro.com\/designconversation\/2018\/05\/installation-at-ccs-remaking-colloquy-progress-update-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Installation at CCS \u2013 Remaking COLLOQUY \u2013 Progress Update #5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When first unveiled in 1968, Gordon Pask&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medienkunstnetz.de\/works\/colloquy-of-mobiles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colloquy of Mobiles<\/a>, part of an exhibition\u00a0in London called <em><a href=\"http:\/\/cyberneticserendipity.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cybernetic Serendipity<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0was a total surprise and a sensation. Nothing like it had ever been made, an immersive experience with independent mobiles in motion, competing and cooperating with each other.\u00a0It&#8217;s been <a href=\"http:\/\/pl02.donau-uni.ac.at\/jspui\/bitstream\/10002\/332\/1\/Maria_Fernandez_refresh.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">written about and lauded<\/a> ever since.<\/p>\n<p>When we unveiled our full-scale replica at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/academics\/graduate-programs-mfa\/interaction-design\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MFA Interaction Design<\/a>\u00a0at CCS in Detroit on May 11, 2018, just standing around these figures generated surprising insights about human-machine interactions.<!--more-->The overall Colloquy of Mobiles infrastructure is now in place along with the <a href=\"http:\/\/pangaro.com\/designconversation\/2018\/04\/yolanda-sonnabend-remaking-colloquy-progress-update-4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3 &#8220;female mobiles&#8221; designed by Yolanda Sonnabend<\/a>\u00a0and supports for the &#8220;male mobiles.&#8221; A prodigious complexity of motors, sensors, lights, and wires all await installation to complete the working replica, our feverish focus for the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The official launch is May 24, 2018, at 5:30PM in the Taubman Center at CCS in Detroit.
