If you are a Discussion Recipient, you will receive postings to the discussion automatically, including your own postings. Therefore, when you are replying to such a discussion, there is no need for you to include your explicit e-mail address in the headers of the e-mail reply you make to the discussion. However, some e-mail clients automatically include your address when you use the Reply function. If your e-mail address is included, you can change the preference settings for your e-mail client.

However, if you are not generally a Discussion Recipient, you may prefer to reverse the above setting so that you are always included in the Reply. You can determine the best setting from a little real use.
